The Lake Ministry at Lake Claiborne has now been a long standing ministry at Weldon. Since 2003 we have participated, in conjunction with Rolling Hills, in providing campers a chance to worship and here a message from the Lord.
The ministry is a two-part ministry. The first part of this ministry takes place on the Saturday before the first Sunday of each month. Here, tracts are passed out to all the campsites and cabins in the park. This tract acts as an invitation to the worship service and a chance for our team to witness to those in the camp. This part has also been used as a way to provide some disaster relief by passing out water and drinks to campers displaced by hurricanes. The second part of this ministry is the worship service itself. Here campers are lead in a contemporary-worship-style song service followed by a short message.
In the beginning the worship service was conducted by the youth’s praise group. The group consisted of eight members that would sing songs of worship that all could sing to. After the song service, there would be a brief sermon given by either by Darrell Strahan or Phillip Ellis. Today, the ministry is still thriving with a strong group led by Darrell Strahan. If you would like to be a part of this great ministry, contact Darrell and he’ll be glad to add you to the team.
